In June 2018, ABI visited Des Moines, Iowa, to inspect 68 bridges (~1.2 million sq. ft.) using the Rapid Automated Sounding (RAS) and Advanced Deck Imaging (ADI) systems. Most of these bridges were high-traffic interstate bridges and would have required extensive traffic control for traditional chaining and visual inspections. The RAS and ADI device only requires a rolling closure while also keeping all personnel out of live traffic. This was the first of several projects that ABI performed with the state of Iowa. We would like to thank the Iowa Department of Transportation for having us out to perform a network-level inspection of some of their bridge decks.
